Gmail is used by millions of people around the world, and as of July, about 28% of people use Gmail as their primary email, with a large percentage using it for business correspondence.

A few years ago, Google added a nice feature to Gmail called Confidential Mode that helps protect sensitive information from unauthorized access. With Confidential Mode, you can set an expiration date and a password for messages and even revoke access at any time you choose. When the recipient receives a secret message, He cannot forward, copy, print, or download the message.

The only caveat in confidential mode is that there is no way to prevent users from taking screenshots of these secret emails and then sending those pictures to other people. So, it's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.

How to send an email in confidential mode?

1. Open your web browser, head to Gmail, and sign in.

2. Create an email.

3. Configure secret mode settings.

If you want to add a passcode, click SMS passcode and click Save, which will take you back to the compose window.

4. Create and send your email.

Create the email as you normally would and then click Send. This will bring up another popup, where you will be asked to type in the recipient's phone number.

Click Send and your email will be off. The recipient will receive an email with a link to view its contents. When they click on the link, a new web browser page will open where they will need to click on a link to send the passcode. Once they get the passcode, they enter it into the browser pop-up window and click Submit, and they can then view the message.

Regardless of the type of email account you're sending the confidential mode message to, the recipient will have to open it in a web browser and the content is displayed in a certain way, so they can't do anything with it other than read it.

Consider using this feature for those messages that contain sensitive information, so they don't end up in the wrong hands.
